Clean Cut
“Landscapes cannot be designed and controlled as a totality; they are instead scripted as scenarios projected into the future, allowed to evolve over time’’
- Stan Allen, Mat building.
In collaboration with Maaemo, a three-star restaurant, this project aims to create new temporary spaces for the restaurant to let people discover their world of reflecting the raw nature of Norway by conserving, fermenting and cooking with local ingredients.
Formed of bedrock and pink granite, the new site is located in Ekeberg park in Oslo. The project responds to the archeological importance of the site by excavating strategic points in the landscape to reveal hidden findings. It aims to do this by cleanly cutting and lifting the earth to not only reveal the history and context of Norway but also expose the beautiful pink granite rock.
Ultimately, it imagines a new landscape where, Maaemo, a three-Michelin star restaurant, and historical findings of Oslo meet, in order to create a shared archive as a visual time capsule for the restaurant and act as a place for preservation, constant experimentation and research.
