Around The Table

Around the table is a system attached to a social-agenda connecting the dining room to the city. It is re-thinking the dining room, by challenging the use of commercial kitchens and identifying the table as the centre of the home. This project cultivates a re-imagined way of living together through collective dining within the city. Mediating between different functions, speeds, and the programmatic layering of edges and enfilades, the proposal aims to not only focus on the crossover of domestic and the public, but also overlay multiple food-systems and act as a link between various people. Reimagining the dichotomies between urban and nature and looking for a subtle dialogue within the context, this prototype will function as a catalyst for a reconnecting of this suburban area.

Project realised in Diploma 15 in 2020 with the tutors: Lucy Styles and Sam Chermayeff.
